To the Editor:
The Steering Committee of West Roxbury Saves Energy was pleased to learn in your September 3 issue of the Transcript (“Westie Businesses Going Green”) that West Roxbury Main Streets is spearheading a program to encourage local businesses to choose recycling of waste rather than simply disposing of it in our landfills. Increasing recycling along Centre Street and other locations in West Roxbury will save money for those businesses engaging in the program, and it will also bring to our town the shared purpose of helping our environment. This is a “win-win” proposition for everyone involved, and WRMS is to be commended for moving forward into the “green” arena. For businesses interested in more information about recycling and Save That Stuff; rebates and financing through NSTAR’s Small Business Solutions program; and the City of Boston’s Renew Boston initiative, which includes a dedicated small business energy-efficiency program, West Roxbury Saves Energy is sponsoring a Green Business Forum on October 5 at 6:30 pm at the West Roxbury Library. The forum is free and open to any local businesses interested in learning more.
